Abstract

  Background &Objective: Infarctian size is the most important prognostic factor in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Reperfusion therapy using thromboliatics is the most important measure in order to limit the infarction, size. Infarction size on the other hand, associates directly with left ventricular (LV) function. The presence of Q wave on electrocardiogram (ECG) after thrombolytic therapy is associated with increased mortality during first months after AMI. Moreover electrocardiographic changes after thrombolytic therapy can predict LV function. This study is an attempt to evaluate the relationship between electrocardiographic Q wave and LV function after thrmobolytic therapy in patients with MI.

  Methods: 176 patients with first episode of AMI (diagnosed based on WHO criteria) who were receiving streptokinase took part in this analytical study. ECG of the first day after admission and ECG of discharge day (usually the sixth day) were evaluated in terms of the presence of pathologic Q wave. LV function was evaluated by Echocardiography using Simpson method. The data were analyzed by SPSS program using chi-square test.

  Results: On discharge day 82.4% of the patients had pathologic Q wave and 17.6% were without it. 51.6% of patients without pathologic Q wave, had normal LV function (LVGF>55%) while 26.9% of them had Q wave (p= 0.001). 73.3% of males and 56.4% of females had Q wave on ECG.

  Conclusions: Presence of Q wave on ECG in patients with AMI after thrombolytic therapy correlates with LV function and indicates impaired LV function in these patients.

Abstract

  Background & Objective: postpartum depression is a kind of psychiatric disorder that psychosocial factors relate with it . This study was performed in order to determine relationship between postpartum depression and psychosocial effects and Determine the rate of postpartum depression in mothers visiting health-medical centers in city of Rasht .

  Method: In this descriptive-correlational study, 350 women were selected in the Random cluster manner. The instruments for gathering data were two questionnaires including psychosocial effects and Edinbugh test. The reseacher completed these questionnaires through interview.

  Results: The results indicated that 16% of samples suffered from postpartum depression. The results indicated a significant correlation between the satisfaction of life and husband's relatives (p=0.021) the lifes life's unpleasant events (p<0.0001) the psychological disorder history in family (p<0.0001) the post partum depression history in family (p=0.008) the unwanted pregnancy (p=0.041) tendency to abortion (p<0.0001) the satisfaction of mothers about the neonatal gendel (p=0.034) the satisfaction of husband's family about neonatal gentiv (p=0.005) the kind of communication with husband (p<0.0001) The kind of communication with husband's family (p<0.0001) and the postpartum depression .

  Conclusion: Nurses have important roles in secondary prevention and screening women suffering from postpartum depepression, and also in appropriate and quick refering them to psychiatrist. Nurses need to be knowledgeable about high-risk factors and share the information with mothers and their families .

Abstract

  Background & Objectives: The identification of Brucella spp. antigens with the capacity to elicit a protective immune response is of the great interest for the researchers. So, characterization and assessment of diverse antigens of Brucella need to be evaluated. In this study, we report the cloning and expression of the gene coding for 31 KDa OMP (OMP31) of Brucella melitensis 16M.

  Methods: Brucella melitensis Omp31 gene was amplified with specific primers, cloned into pJET1/2 and subsequently subcloned in pET28a (+) vector. Both these recombinant plasmids were sequenced and then after, expression of recombinant protein was induced by 1mM IPTG. Western blot analysis was also performed by polyclonal rabbit antiserum.

  Results: Omp31 successfully was cloned in both plasmid vectors. The recombinant Omp31 was expressed in E.coli host and purified with significant yield. Western blot results along with those of sequencing ensured accurate production of recombinant omp31 and retaining of its partial epitopes.

  Conclusion: Our results show that, an expression host such as E. coli is suitable for omp31 production.
